All Gearboxes

October 19, 2015

Brushless gearmotors can be built with four different types of gearboxes: Planetary, Parallel Shaft, Right Angle and Right Angle Planetary. It’s important to know the specs needed for your application to determine which Brushless gearmotor will be the best fit. Planetary gearmotors have a higher yield strength than parallel shaft gearmotors in the same size package because […]

DC Motor

August 26, 2015

A Permanent Magnet Direct Current brush type motor (or DC Motor) is a great option for applications with high starting torque requirements because of their linear speed-torque curve. DC motors and gearmotors have a standard brush life of 2000+ hours, and they are great for applications with easily accessible motors and operations that don’t require a long life. Because speed […]

Parallel Shaft

September 30, 2015

DC Parallel Shaft gearmotors are a better choice for continuous duty applications than planetary DC gearmotors because their gear configurations provide a higher level of efficiency. They provide the highest maximum input speed of Groschopp’s gearbox choices. Parallel shaft gearmotors combine the high starting torque of a DC motor with the capabilities of a parallel shaft gearmotor. This […]

Right Angle

October 6, 2015

The reduction achieved using worm gears make DC Right Angle gearmotors a good fit for intermittent and continuous duty operations in tight spaces. Right angle gearmotors are non-back-drivable (they do not move when power is cut from the motor) at ratios of 30:1 and above.  DC Right Angle gearmotors combine the high starting torque of a DC motor with […]

Planetary

October 6, 2015

DC Planetary gearmotors have a higher yield strength than parallel shaft gearmotors in the same size package because there is more surface area working within the gears of planetary gearmotors. The in-line configuration of the spur gears in planetary gearmotors combined with the high starting torque of PMDC motors gives DC Planetary gearmotors nearly three times the […]

Right Angle Planetary

October 6, 2015

DC Right Angle Planetary gearmotors are built using spur and bevel gears, making them much more efficient than right angle worm gearmotors. DC Right Angle Planetary gearmotors couple the high torque of standard planetary gearboxes with the 90° turn capabilities of right angle gearboxes to create a powerful combination of size and torque suitable for applications that […]

AC Motors

August 26, 2015

AC motors (alternating current) are a great choice for applications needing relatively low, consistent speed over a wide range of torque. Groschopp offers two and four pole induction motors with single and three phase inputs making it easy to find the right fit. AC induction motors are a great option for low power and low starting torque applications where […]

Planetary

October 6, 2015

AC Planetary gearmotors have a higher yield strength than AC parallel shaft gearmotors in the same size package because of the in-line configuration of the spur gears in planetary gearmotors. AC Planetary gearmotors drastically increase the torque capabilities of AC motors without much decrease to the efficiency of the motor. AC Planetary gearmotors are suitable for both […]

How to use the Motor Search Tool

Narrow your search by selecting motor type, gearbox, voltage, and phase options for your desired motor.

Select a dominant variable: choose one of the three parameters to narrow your search. The selected variable determines which slider bar you will be able to manually move.

Use the slider corresponding to your dominant variable to further narrow your motor selection. The other sliders will automatically move to show available ranges based on the range of your selected variable.

Results will upload as your search criteria changes. If you have any questions regarding your results or how to use the search tool, you can chat with us using the green tab on the left-hand side of your screen.

Note: Groschopp Universal motors are custom built to fit your application so no additional options are available to narrow the search. Selecting the Universal motor type will prompt a message taking you to the Universal product page.
