Overview

A food-service equipment manufacturer needed a custom blender motor built for demanding operating conditions. The application called for reliable performance in a washdown environment, long operating cycles, and a design that could fit within the equipment’s existing footprint. We engineered a sealed PMDC motor tailored to those requirements.

Challenges

  • Harsh environment: The motor needed protection against splashing liquids and cleaning.
  • Continuous duty: The application required long operating cycles without overheating.
  • Frequent cleaning: The design needed to meet sanitation requirements common in food-service equipment.
  • Space limitations: The motor had to fit within the manufacturer’s existing housing.

Groschopp’s Solution

Groschopp engineered a PMDC motor built specifically for this application. Key features included:

  • Custom end bells machined to match the required housing and mounting configuration.
  • An extended stainless steel food-grade shaft with sealed bearings for added protection against liquids and corrosion.
  • Special windings designed to help manage heat during continuous operation.
  • A custom power cord built to meet the customer’s specifications and simplify integration.

Results

The final motor design gave the customer a solution built for daily washdown, continuous operation, and a fit within their existing footprint. By combining a sealed food-grade shaft, custom-fit end bells, and a winding design focused on thermal performance, Groschopp delivered a motor tailored to the demands of the application.

How to use the Motor Search Tool

Narrow your search by selecting motor type, gearbox, voltage, and phase options for your desired motor.

Select a dominant variable: choose one of the three parameters to narrow your search. The selected variable determines which slider bar you will be able to manually move.

Use the slider corresponding to your dominant variable to further narrow your motor selection. The other sliders will automatically move to show available ranges based on the range of your selected variable.
