NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) was found in 1926 and is located in Rosslyn Virginia. NEMA ratings create standards which define a product’s level of protection against various environmental conditions. It is often used in the manufacturing industry and to test electrical devices. NEMA has over 13 different types of ratings ranging from NEMA 1 to NEMA 13.
Groschopp has four brushless controls that have a NEMA 4X rating. NEMA 4X enclosures are constructed for either indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection:
- against access to hazardous parts
- of the equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (windblown dust)
- with respect to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (rain, sleet, snow, splashing water, and hose directed water)
